biomechanical consults

At Encompass Podiatry we provide a thorough biomechanical assessment to see how your entire body moves, with special interest of your hips, legs, and feet. The assessment includes:
  • Gait analysis both barefoot and in your footwear. This can be done walking on the floor or you may be asked to use the treadmill if your balance is suitable. If you are a runner we will also watch you running and discuss what we see and what we are looking for.
  • Footwear assessments regarding what features we look for in a shoe, the suitability of shoes for certain activities, the wear pattern and compression, and the shape of the shoe in comparison to the shape of your foot.
  • Referrals for correct style and fit can also be recommended along with medical-grade footwear for those that require it.
  • Paediatric assessments are also available and include all the above with specific assessments and consideration for the younger population.

othotics & shoe inserts

Custom made orthotics are an effective treatment option for a variety of lower limb conditions for adults and children. Essentially orthotics support your feet by applying pressure, support and cushioning specifically where you require it, to reduce pain and improve foot function.

There are many different types of orthotics that are available and your Podiatrist will work closely with you to build a device specific to your needs.
If you have private health, check in with your fund as you may be eligible for a rebate on custom devices and associated consultations.

Ingrown toenail surgery and verruca/ wart treatment

  • Ingrown toenails: Painful, infected or problematic ingrown toenails can be permanently treated by a Podiatrist performing a partial nail avulsion (PNA) surgery. This is a procedure that is completed in our clinic and removes the section of nail that is growing into the skin permanently. Recovery is usually quick, with no time required off your feet and with most people returning to wearing enclosed footwear within 4-5 days. To discuss whether a PNA may be suitable for you, please book an appointment to discuss this with your Podiatrist.
  • Verruca/Wart treatment: Verruca can be treated in a variety of ways depending on where they are located on your foot, the type of footwear you are wearing, the requirements of your job and the size of the verruca. Your Podiatrist will discuss with you the best option for your lifestyle to minimise pain but still aiming to resolve the verruca as quickly as possible.
